Centrally located on Northwestern's main campus, the University College's professional advisors deliver comprehensive academic advising to students who are uncertain about which major/minor may be right for them.
All exploratory students are assigned an academic advisor who will provide on-going assistance with academic exploration. University College Advisors assist students who are working toward completion of the core curriculum. In addition, advisors and students collaborate to identify academic and career interests. Once identified, advisors may recommend certain courses and other extra-curricular activities accordingly.
A comprehensive approach to advising often involves making appropriate referrals elsewhere on campus to ensure that exploratory students' diverse needs are met. Once exploratory students select a major field of study, they will be aligned with a faculty advisor in the students' major field of study.
